Limowa signs a logistics partnership network agreement in Sverdlovski, Russia

Limowa The name of the logistics partnership network Limowa comes from the English words lifting, moving and warehousing.
Finnish logistics cluster’s partnership network Limowa has agreed on extensive cooperation with logistics-related development projects in the Sverdlovski region of Russia. The partnership protocol was signed together with the Russian Ural Logistics Association.
 
– The infrastructural needs connected to the Russian economy open significant business opportunities for Finnish companies. The partnership agreement with developers in the Ural region enables Finnish companies’ participation in important logistics centre projects in Russia, tells Director Jorma Härkönen from Limowa.

In addition to joint development projects the parties agreed on the utilization of the economic partnership program between the Finnish Government and Serdlovski region, and that the associations will inform each other of services offered by their member companies.

Ural Logistics Association (ULA) was establisheded according to the model of the Finland-based Limowa Logistics Cluster in Yekaterinburg in autumn 2009. The goal of ULA is to improve the effectiveness and the competitiveness of the logistics infrastructure of the Ural region, and to strengthen the position of the region’s transport and logistics in Russia. ULA belongs to a wider Russian logistics and transport strategy (2009-2015).

Limowa is a national logistics development and partnership network, with an aim of promoting the export of Finnish logistics expertise especially to Russia. Limowa is part of the Centre of Expertise Programme of the Finnish Ministry of Employment and the Economy. In projects directed to Russia, Limowa works also together with the Ministry of Traffic and Communication. The partnership network is managed by the Hyvinkää-based technology centre TechVilla.

Limowa’s members include for instance building companies, lifting and moving companies, logistics operators, new technology companies, consultancy and ICT companies, harbours, educational communities, cities and their development enterprises. Limowa has nearly 50 member companies.
