Letters to Father Jacob wins at Santa Barbara International Film Festival
Nordisk Film Letters to Father Jacob is co-starred by Kaarina Hazard and Heikki Nousiainen.The film has already received a number of awards. For instance, it has won at the International Filmfestival Mannheim-Heidelberg, at Lübeck Nordic Film Days and at the Cairo International Film Festival in Egypt. The film’s soundtrack has also been successful. Composer Dani Strömbäck was presented the Nordic Film Music Prize at Gothenburg Film Festival.
The film has also been awarded in Finland, where it has received four Jussi Awards, one of which the Best Director Award.
Letters to Father Jacob tells the story of Leila who has recently been pardoned from a life-sentence for murder, and goes to work as a personal assistant for Pastor Jacob. The film has attracted over 98 000 cinema goers in Finland alone. The film is co-starred by Kaarina Hazard and Heikki Nousiainen and produced by Lasse Saarinen and Rimbo Salomaa from Kinotar Oy.
The film was released on DVD in November 2009 and it is the very first commercial DVD that features a Finnish-language audio description for visually impaired viewers.
