Kone wins major order for Oman airport

This project is considered one of the most valuable infrastructure projects in the history of Oman. This project is considered one of the most valuable infrastructure projects in the history of Oman.
Kone will supply 122 elevators, 60 escalators and 39 autowalks as part of the redevelopment of Muscat International Airport’s passenger terminal in Oman. 

This equipment will enhance the user experience and ensure a smooth people flow at the Muscat International Airport which sees up to 12 million passengers annually.

The terminal extension has been designed by a COWI-Larsen joint venture and developed by the Ministry of Transport & Communication, Civil Aviation Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman. 

The project is considered to be the most valuable infrastructure project in the history of Oman.  The main contractor is a Bechtel-ENKA-BEC joint venture with project management from ADPI.

The contract was booked in the third quarter of 2011 and the terminal expansion should be completed in 2014.
