KONE to install 46 elevators on two brand new cruise ships

The luxury cruise company Celebrity Cruises has signed a significant contract with KONE. The Finnish company has been assigned to design, supply and install a total of  46 brand new, customised elevators on the Celebrity Cruises' two new “Solstice Class” cruise ships.

Both of the cruise ships will be 317 meters long and over 36 meters wide, each accommodating over 2,800 passengers. The delivery of the ships will take place in 2011 and 2012. The new ships will provide the cruise passengers a luxury cruise vacation experience covering a wide range of on-board entertainment and amenities.

KONE has been cooperating with the owner of Celebrity Cruises, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and Meyer Werft shipyard for a long time already.  - This order is a result of our long-term partnership and especially successful cooperation with Meyer Werft shipyard on previous projects, affirms Ari Lehtoranta, EVP, Major Projects at KONE. According to Lehtoranta these new orders play and important role in strengthening KONE's leading position in the cruise ship segment.
