KONE signs two major people-flow contracts to China

Kone Metro City shopping mall in Shanghai is one of Kone’s important references in China.
Finnish leader in the elevator and escalator industry, Kone has won an order to supply 90 Machine-Room-Less (MRL) elevators and 16 autowalks to Kunming’s new international airport, which will be China’s fourth largest airport when completed in 2011. Approximately 38 million passengers, and 950 000 tons of cargo pass annually through the Southwest China’s leading transportation hub.

82 of the supplied elevators will be KONe MonoSpace elevators and 8 KONE TranSys freight elevators. Kone’s previous significant logistics projects in China include the Terminal 3 at Beijing Capital Airport and the Beijing-Shanghai Express Railway.

Kone has also agreed on the delivery of 38 elevators, 22 escalators and 6 autowalks for the five towers of Raffles City Chengdu, a new landmark building in the capital of Sichuan Province, China.

Chengdu Raffles Plaza has been designed by the world-renowned American architect Steven Holl and its developer is Capitaland China. Raffles City Chengdu is the third Raffles City project in China. The building complex will host offices, a shopping mall, a five-star hotel and serviced apartments. The project is expected to be completed in 2011.

Kone has not disclosed the value of the contracts.
