Kesko wins Corporate Responsibility 2009 competition
Kesko Kesko’s corporate social responsibility has gained recognition both in Finland and internationally. This year’s competition focused specifically on supply chain reporting.Kesko has been rewarded for the best corporate responsibility report and good supply chain reporting in the Corporate Responsibility 2009 competition. The jury appreciated the openness, transparency and the variety of practical case examples of Kesko's corporate responsibility report.
The reporting competition was held for the 14th time. This year, the topical areas of emphasis were the supply chains of products and services, and responsible HR policy as part of social responsibility.
The competition was organized by the Confederation of Finnish Industries EK, Finnish Business & Society, the Finnish Institute of Authorised Public Accountants, the Association for Environmental Management (YJY), the Ministry of Employment and the Economy, and the Ministry of the Environment.
A preliminary evaluation was based on the responsibility reporting of all of the 132 companies on the main list of the Helsinki stock exchange. In addition, 29 organizations signed up for the competition separately. The final evaluation included 36 organizations.
Kesko's sustainable development is also recognized internationally. For the seventh year in succession, Kesko was selected for the Dow Jones sustainability indexes DJSI World and DJSI STOXX. Kesko is the only Nordic retail company selected for these indexes.
Kesko has been ranked among the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations every year since 2005 when the list was launched by World Economic Forum.
