Kemira grows in the United States

Kemira Kemira focuses on serving customers in water-intensive industries. Its vision is to become the world’s leading water chemistry company.
Kemira, a global water chemistry company, will acquire the North American water chemicals company Water Elements. The acquired company has a production plant in Baltimore, Maryland and its annual revenue in 2009 was approximately 10 million dollars. The transaction price will not be disclosed.

Established in 2007, Water Elements manufactures inorganic coagulants for municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment. The company acquisition strengthens Kemira’s strategic investments in water treatment in its different forms.

– We are currently one of the leading suppliers of water treatment chemicals to municipal, industrial, pulp & paper, and oil & mining customers in North America. We believe that the acquisition and related production technology will enable Kemira to better serve our customers and enhance our business in the eastern U.S., says Jay Richey, Vice President of the Municipal business segment at Kemira.

Water Elements will become a subsidiary of Kemira Water Solutions, and it will be merged with the Kemira’s Municipal & Industrial segment in the United States.
