The world's best karaoke is sung in Finland. Finnish singers have won both the men's and women's categories of the Karaoke World Championship 2010 held in Moscow.

The winner of the women's contest was Maria Saarimaa-Ylitalo, who charmed the jury and the audience with a famous piece from Celine Dion's repertoire, I surrender. The winner of the men's contest, Sam Moudden, sang in French, 'Je suis malade'. Both world champions come from Helsinki. The audience's favourite in the competition was Edward Pimentel from the United States.

Singers from 16 countries took part in this year's Karaoke World Championships. Traditionally the strongest karaoke countries have been Japan, Finland and Australia. However, today karaoke has captivated people all over the world, for instance in Russia.

Karaoke World Championships were held for the eight time. Finland has hosted six competitions. This was the first time that Finland has won in both categories.
