The Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation Tekes and the Indian Department of Biotechnology have agreed on continuing their collaboration in the field of diagnostics. Funding is available to companies and research projects from both countries through a joint application process.

The collaboration seeks to strengthen top level Finnish-Indian projects, which work towards advancing development in the field of diagnostics. In India the product market in diagnostics has grown rapidly in recent years.

Finland is an international forerunner in the field of diagnostics. According to a survey carried out in 2008 many Finnish diagnostics operators are eager to cooperate with India in developing new innovations for new markets. When funding research projects, Tekes favours projects with a strong company participation, which improves the exploitation of research results.

The detailed call for applications will be published during the Indo-Finnish Diagnostics event in Helsinki, May 24-26 2010.

The deadline for applications is on September 10th and the applicants will be notified about the funding decisions in February 2011 at the latest.
