Iloq - brand new lock system to enter markets

Iloq

The biggest problem in today's lock systems is the loss of keys, which may in some cases bring about major costs. Large housing cooperatives, hospitals or universities can have hundreds if not thousands of keys in constant use.

The idea behind Iloq is very simple. All the keys are seemingly the same, but they contain a microchip for programming the key. A specific programming device has been developed for storing information into the microchip. The system is controlled by a PC. The brand new Iloq was introduced recently in the Tekniikka ja Talous (Technology and Economy)-magazine.

The lock system is operated electrically. A separate battery is not needed, since the necessary electricity is generated when the key is pushed into the keyhole.

If the key goes missing, the access rights can easily be cancelled. Iloq has protected its new-generation lock invention with seven patents.

The process of development and design of the new electro-mechanic lock system started in 2004. After three year's research and development work the system was finally introduced at a trade show.

The executive manager of Iloq, Mika Pukari has a lot of experience in the lock business, having worked as an entrepreneur in the field. When he sold his business to the security service business Fack in 2002, he got a chance to start developing a lock system without the weaknesses of ordinary locking methods.

Iloq has been awarded several prizes within the safety sector. Now the greatest challenge is to turn the rewards into business.
