Holvi wins Seedcamp business idea competition

The Holvi web service is the first Finnish company and only the second Nordic company to win the international Seedcamp competition.

Seedcamp is an organization founded by experienced European investors who evaluate start-up business ideas in a series of events held around Europe.  Attending the events are significant players in the investment world such as Atlas and Index Ventures.

The winner, Holvi, is a web service directed towards groups, organizations, associations and event organizers that simplifies online banking and provides financial data in an easy to understand format.  The service also allows users to set up their own web shops and assists in managing expense payments and membership registration.

Holvi’s target markets are initially within Europe where there are more than five million registered associations.  The financial transactions related to associations’ activities are worth annually between 25-50 thousand million euros.

Seedcamp picks the companies offering the greatest growth potential and offers a year-long mentoring scheme.  Each year from among 2,000 companies 10-15 winners are picked of which 90 percent also achieve additional investment either from the Seedcamp’s own investors or from other international bodies.

─ Being picked as a Seedcamp winner is a real achievement and it will allow Holvi to develop as a Europe-wide service.  Through Seedcamp we will get the international mentoring we need, the contacts and the investment help, comments Kristoffer Lawson, one the Holvi developers.
