The latest edition of Wired magazine features what it considers to be Helsinki’s ten hottest startups in its cover story.
The magazine lists Ovelin, developer of the award-winning guitar learning game WildChords; Kiosked, which has reshaped web advertising; Diabetes technology company Mendor; music service company AudioDraft and Grand Cru, which develops cross-platform mobile adventure games.
Also named are wire-free charging company Powerkiss; Digital startup Steam Republic; Smartphone game developer Grey Area; Tincercad which has developed a 3D design web app and white label mobile video platform, Thirdpresence.
Helsinki has become a hub for tech and mobile startups, particularly following the success of Rovio, the creator of Angry Birds.
The city is viewed as the heart of the startup scene in the Nordic and Baltic region.
Wired magazine lists ten companies from each city it considers a startup hub.
Besides Helsinki, the other featured cities are Amsterdam, Barcelona, Paris, London, Istanbul, Berlin, Stockholm, Tel Aviv, and Moscow.
