Safera Safera safety technology prevents dangerous situations occurring on the hob and extinguishes any fires effectively, quickly and without mess.Product development began in 2006 following a tip by a Finnish insurance company that hob fires are a serious problem and that there were at that time no adequate solutions available on the market.
– We picked up the ball and ran with it, since we have both a strong product development base as well as experience in designing safety products, tells Safera Oy’s Managing Director Henri Andell.
– We began to think up solutions and then test them in practice, looking at the kind of dangers that occur around hobs and at how we could prevent and stop them. We soon noticed that effective prevention of hob fires is based on controlling the power to the device and on targeted extinguishing measures.
After the first sketches, Henri Andell and his colleagues decided to implement the idea together with a hob manufacturer.
– The idea really took shape as a commercial proposition when we participated in the Venture Cup 2007 competition in which we won virtually all the prizes.
In Mr Andell’s view, cooker hoods and extractors equipped with Safera safety technology really improve safety in the home. Innovative Safera technology switches off power to cookers that are left on, it quickly
extinguishes any fires starting on the hob and an automatic child-proof device prevents accidental switching on of the hob.The company’s markets are now expanding rapidly.
– When we began to export to Sweden, we hit the jackpot straight away. A well-known Swedish developer, Familjebostäder, decided that all its newbuilds would be equipped with Safera hob safety systems.
