Forcit signs an explosive contract

Finland's leading producer of explosives Forcit, located in the country's southernmost city Hanko, will deliver mining explosives to Sweden. The value of the contract totals 75 million Euros. The five-year contract, which was signed with the Swedish mining and smelting company Boliden Ab, gives Forcit leading position in the Nordic explosives market.

The newly signed contract comprises up to 28 000 tons of explosives per year, which almost equals to the annual use of explosives in Finland. The explosives will be utilized in Aitik and Maurliden mines in Sweden.

A contract of this extend requires us to increase our production. The contract with Boliden is especially significant for Forcit, for thanks to it we will become the market leader in the Nordic countries, says the CEO of Forcit, Ulf Sjöblom.

Moreover, Sjöblom believes that due to the growing operations also Forcit's production will double by the end of 2011.

Established in 1893, Forcit employs about 240 personnel out of which 200 in Finland. The company is specialized in premium civil and military explosives.
