FinNode network internationalizes Finnish innovation activity
Lehtikuva FinNode supports the international networking of Finnish innovators. In 1973, when FinNode hadn’t been established yet, the propelled bicycle didn’t manage to break through on international markets. In 2010 FinNode operation is being renewed by strengthening the network’s funding, reinforcing personnel resources and organization, and by clarifying the division of tasks between the different parties involved. FinnNode’s operative administrator is the global expert network Finpro.
– FinNode operation is set to meet some of the challenges that internationalization presents to the Finnish innovation system. In addition to aiding international networking, FinNode assists innovators to promote demand and user-driven innovations in pioneer markets, and to improve cooperation between Finnish actors, says Erkki Virtanen, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Employment and the Economy.
Information acquired by the FinNode network is trusted to increase the understanding of innovation activities in Finland and to support the utilization of new business models and possibilities.
FinNode network is a joint initiative of the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation Tekes, Finpro, Technical Research Centre of Finland VTT, Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra and the Academy of Finland. The network’s operation is supervised also by the Ministry of Employment and the Economy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education and the Confederation of Finnish Industries EK.
