Finnish youth learn more about EU humanitarian aid
Anti-hero Arska needs your help.Humanitarian aid and the work of the European Commission in providing humanitarian aid are being brought to the knowledge of the Finnish youth. Many young people of today are not aware of these issues at all. Only one third of Finns know that the EU funds humanitarian aid projects in different parts of the world.
The campaign encourages young people to look for information on humanitarian aid and the role of the European Commission as its provider.
The campaign is intended particularly to 16-24 year old youth and it is being implemented as an information search competition on the Internet.
The website releases a new brain-teaser every week with tips for finding its answer. The answers to the brain-teasers can be found for instance on the Internet. Three most successful competitors will win a mini-laptop.
- The competition offers the youth a fun and easy way of learning and acquiring more information about the need for humanitarian aid, its targets and impacts, tells the Chief Communications Consultant at Infor Consulting, Ilari Hylkilä, who is in charge of the realization of the competition.
The campaign is brightened up by the sympathetic anti-hero Arska, who appears on the campaign website and also elsewhere on the Internet. Arska is embodied by the actor and stand up-comedian Ilari Johansson. Arska’s stories are written by script writer Paula Noronen.
The competition, which has been commissioned by the European Commission Humanitarian Aid department ECHO, has been actualized by the communications specialist Infor Consulting Oy.
The campaign is carried out in co-operation with Finnish Youth Co-Operation Allianssi, Finn Church Aid, Europe Information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Finnish Representation to the European Commission.
