Over the past two years, more than 400 New York based startups have received funding from venture capitalists, many building web services focusing on sales, marketing, media and entertainment.
Jukka Viitasaari, the director of The Federation of Finnish Technology Industries, believes the city is a good place for media centric digital startups and that Finnish expertise is in demand.
The companies receive a console or workspace, phone connections as well as legal, financing, marketing and book keeping services.
Firms pay a few hundred dollars a month for the service according to the Talouselämä article. So far about 30 companies have expressed an interest.
The service isn't only limited to Finnish companies. Baltic and Russian companies are also eligible.
If the nest concept proves successful,Viitasaari says they will look at expanding with Shanghai the next likely destination.
