Finnish modern design on show in New York

STRAIGHTFORWARD New Finnish Design, which is held in conjunction with Meatpacking District Design ’10 event, consists of an exhibition of Finnish design, a documentary film introducing the story of Finnish design and a series of side events directed to professionals and the wider audience.
Before the opening of the event in New York, the companies and designers taking part it in will be offered Design Bootcamp export training seminar. The aim of the seminar is to support the internationalisation of Finnish design in the North American market.
The event is organized by the Finnish Cultural Institute in New York and the Consulate General of Finland in New York in collaboration with Helsinki-based Huippu Design Management and with local partners. The curators of the exhibition are industrial designer Paula Bello and interior architect Teemu Oksanen. Graphic design is produced by Johannes Ekholm. In conjunction with STRAIGHTFORWARD, a project of long term collaboration between Aalto University and Parsons the New School for Design will also be launched. The event is supported by the City of Helsinki, Ministry of Education in Finland and Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.
