Finnish Cleantech Cluster is the third most thriving in the world
The Finnish cluster was acknowledged for creating 40 new high-growth companies in the country and for its active role in the internationalization process of companies.
The Cleantech Cluster is formed by four Finland’s most significant Cleantech centres of expertise: Kuopio, Lahti, Oulu and Uusimaa, which cover 60 per cent of Finland’s Cleantech business and 80 per cent of Cleantech research in Finland. The coordination of the cluster is managed by Lahti Science and Business Park.
The aim of the cluster is to generate new growth companies in the fields of environment, energy and clean technology. In addition to that the cluster assists Finnish companies in their process of internationalization and search for foreign capital investors.
Last year EUs Commissioner for Regional Policy Danuta Hübner raised the achievements of the Cleantech Cluster as an example for other European clusters. The 1.5 million euro funding from the EU Commission helped the cluster to create more than 170 new green jobs, and source over 30 million euros of investments.
