Finnair to offer smoother departures for its customers

finnair Finnairs economy class passangers wiill need to use self-checking in a future.

Finnair, the Finnish national carrier, is renewing its pre-flight services at Helsinki-Vantaa airport in order to offer smoother departures for its customers. All the economy class service desks will be changed into Baggage Drop desks where any hold luggage can be left after the check-in. Company’s service desks will continue to assist customers with special needs and priority customers.

— Checking-in prior to arriving at the airport is the norm with majority of airlines and has quickly become more common among our customers, too. It enables flexible departures and it means less times in queues at the airport, says Anssi Komulainen, Finnair's SVP, Customer Service.

Finnair is planning to increase considerably the number of self-service check-in kiosks and baggage drop desks at Helsinki-Vantaa airport. Customers can check in advance either using a text message, company’s website or the self-service check-in kiosks at the airport. The move is expected to shorten queuing times in the Helsinki-Vantaa departure hall.
