Finnair opens super-fast connection between Europe and India
Finnair opened a new route to India's capital city New Delhi last Friday. The flight, which takes six and half hours is the only direct flight connection between northern Europe and New Delhi.
- Our route is the shortest between the EU and India, so it has found wide interest amongst travellers, says Petteri Kostermaa, Vice President of Networks Strategy and Planning at Finnair. According to him, the route has excellent connections to Finnair's flight destinations in other parts of Europe. Delhi, as the main airline hub in India, offers also good connections to other parts of the country.
Finnair has purposefully increased its Asian flights since 1999. The airline started flying to Delhi in October 2006. Due to the recession the airline has had to limit its flights to Mumbai.
Finnair promotes India as a traveler's dream land. Old Delhi with its winding alleyways and market squares is a sight in itself. New Delhi on the other hand contrasts the old city with its wide esplanades and luxury hotels.
The flights connect travelers for example to North India's Golden Triangle,a tourist circuit which includes the city of Delhi, Agra with its world famous Taj Mahal palace, and the capital of Rajasthan state, the Pink City of Jaipur.
