Finland is the world’s fourth most developed digital economy

Finland ranked fourth in this year’s international digital economy ranking. Finland ranked fourth in this year’s international digital economy ranking.

Finland ranked fourth at the Digital Economy Rankings 2010 carried out by The Economist and IBM. The generalization and development of e-services in the country helped Finland to reach the top of the list.

Digital Economy Rankings research compared the utilisation of electronic communications and information technology in seventy countries. This year's ranking focused specifically on the development of broadband and mobile connections. Sweden reached the top of the ranking, Denmark was second and the United States third.

- Citizens and companies are able to and want to use for instance e-services more than what is available now. For this reason it is important that both the public sector and companies continue developing more intelligent solutions, comments Johan Sandell, General Manager of IBM Finland.
