FIMECC expects 70 million Euros for launching new research
FIMECCThe programmes are intended to serve a purpose of developing project business activities and new modes for managing product information as well as providing new solutions for lightening machinery. The programmes running from 2009-2013 are estimated to cost up to 70 million Euros while creating over 600 man-years.
Innovations & Network- research programme produces new solutions and management strategies for product information in the project industry. The aim of the research programme is to create new policies, which allow tailored products to be manufactures as efficiently as those in large-scale production.
The programme, which consists of two sub-sections, has been under preparation for over a year. Up to 26 companies have taken part in its preparation. Among these companies have been for instance Cargotec, Rautaruukki and Metso, as well as 11 research centres.
Light, the second research programme of FIMECC, is designed to reduce the carbon emissions resulting from the energy expenditure and use of industrial commodities. The programme is designed for research and development in the field of material technology. The overall aims are to provide new solutions for lightening the structures of machinery and devices, estimating the life-cycle impacts of commodities and measuring and reducing carbon footprint in the production of industrial commodities.
