Finnish Internet security provider F-Secure and Vodafone have signed a global framework agreement to provide Internet protection for Vodafone’s business and consumer customers as a monthly subscription service. The new agreement will expand the 2008 signed global framework agreement between the two companies, and covers now also PC protection.

The operator business activities of F-Secure grew by 24 per cent in 2009 increasing the company’s turnover to 60.2 million euros. The company, which is headquartered in Helsinki has over 200 operator partners in 40 different countries around the world.

This week saw also the launch of a new Internet TV series produced together by F-Secure and the Wreckamovie internet community. The six-episode series called ‘Griffin’ portrays a good guy Griffin Sharp, whose mission is to fight against cybercrime. The purpose of the series is to help consumers to open their eyes on modern internet threats. The series will be distributed for free on the Internet.

Griffin is being developed by an online community of enthusiasts on the Wreckamovie platform. The community creates the script and visuals, as well as taking part in the actual filming, which takes place in six different countries. F-Secure is supporting the project by giving its insight to the world of the fight against cybercrime. Different operators are also welcome to join the project.

– The trailer is only a taster of the journey that Griffin Sharp is about to embark on. Cyber crime topic has been received with great enthusiasm by the Wreckamovie community, which has already been reinforced by enthusiastic movie makers from a number of countries. We are amazed by the global nature of this enthusiasm. Talent and creativity seems to be abundant all over. The poster art for Griffin was designed in Jakarta, Indonesia and we have already received great input for the script all the way from Australia to Germany and Canada. And now that people can see the trailer and get a feeling for the look and feel of the series, we expect even more people to join the fun of making a cybercrime series together, says the Producer of Griffin, Timo Vuorensola.

The vision of the Finnish Star Wreck Studios’ Wreckamovie online service is that anybody can start their own production, invite a few friends and start making their own film.
