Expert taskforce boosts the export of Finnish health care sector

The export potential of the Finnish healthcare sector has been boosted with significant political support. The Finnish Ministry of Employment and the Economy has set up an expert taskforce to form a strategy for the export and internationalization of Finnish healthcare services. The taskforce has been assigned until the end of 2010, during which time it is expected to create proposals for spearhead projects and measures to be instituted.
 
The action group will be headed by State Secretary Riina Nevamäki. The action group consists of representatives from the Ministry of Employment and the Economy, Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Finpro and the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation. Experts for the taskforce have been chosen from the Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities, Federation of Finnish Enterprises, Confederation of Finnish Industries and the University of Tampere.  

The taskforce will evaluate the development needs and operational models of the Finnish healthcare sector in relation to export and internationalization from the viewpoint of the public sector, private producers and the cooperation of these two. The assignment includes also the consideration of the development needs and possibilities of the Ministry of Employment and the Economy’s administrative services and funding for promoting the export of Finnish health care services.
