Enevo secures angel funding

lehtikuva / jussi nukari Waste management companies need to know if containers are full or empty

One man’s garbage is another man’s gold.

Enevo, a Finnish company creating smart sensors to improve the logistics of the waste management industry, has just closed a 200,000 euro angel round with Lifeline and four angel investors.

Waste management companies cannot afford to have their waste trucks driving out and dumping containers which are half empty.

Enevo solves the problem by producing a wireless sensor box called ONe Collect which is installed in a waste container, providing information about its status as well as data such as fill-up rates, estimated fill-up dates, collection dates, and seasonal variations.

Powerful online analytics software can then calculate the best driving routes for waste trucks, resulting in significant savings.

Enevo says it has the potential to cut total waste management costs by 20 to 40 per cent, and provides the benefit of alerting municipalities before waste containers overflow.

The service can be used with either large underground waste containers or surface containers.

Apart from the funding round, Enevo has just been selected as one of the top 25 start-ups in the Nordic Cleantech Open business competition.
