Delfin goes under the skin

Delfin Technologies
Kuopio-based Delfin Technologies Oy’s products are driving skin research forward in more than 30 countries. The company develops and markets medical devices for measuring skin properties and the effects of various substances on the skin. Using Delfin’s technology, it is possible, for example, to measure the water content of the skin, something that is essential when developing products that are applied to the skin.

- Our products are invaluable both in clinical skin research and also in the development of so-called personal care products. Delfin solutions are used, for example, in hospitals, universities, medical companies and in the cosmetic and chemical industries, explains Delfin Technologies Oy’s Marketing Manager Aki Immonen.

Delfin’s products are designed and manufactured in Kuopio and the company capitalizes on the very latest research. Although the company operates out of Finland, its products are nevertheless destined for global markets and 95 per cent of them are, in fact, exported.

- Our major export markets are the USA, Japan and France, which are all big in the skin research field. In the future, the Asian markets, particularly China and India, will grow considerably, Mr Immonen continues.

According to Aki Immonen, the accuracy of Delfin’s products will be a trump card both in new markets and in new application areas.

- Globally the demands placed on products related to the skin are increasing all the time.  More and more countries are introducing new standards which require product safety to be proven by testing. In addition, new application areas in clinical research in which dermal tissue measurement has up until now been complicated and inaccurate, are opening up new opportunities for our products, predicts Mr Immonen.

Our summer series introduces interesting and innovative companies from all over Finland.
