Cultural Fitness Clinic wins first prize at international television festival in Bulgaria
Cultural Fitness Clinic, a TV-programme produced by the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE, has been awarded a winning prize at the Golden Chest International Television Festival in Bulgaria. The programme ranked best in the Television Formats -category. The programme took part in the competition for the first time. Other category winners came from France, Norway, Romania and Japan.
Cultural Fitness Clinic attempted to broaden the participants' range of cultural interests. The series was part of the nationwide cooperative project of YLE, Finnish Cultural Foundation and Svenska Kulturfonden, which was launched in the autumn of 2008.
The jury of the Grand Prix Golden Chest-festival acknowledged the winner for its fresh attitude and versatility. The same format was considered suitable for radio, television and the Internet.
The seven-part Cultural Fitness Clinic was broadcasted in Finland about a year ago. The programme format was designed by producer Marjaana Mykkänen and reporter Minna Joenniemi.
The Golden Chest International Television Festival, which was held for the first time in 1968, is one of the oldest international festivals in Europe. It is organized by the Bulgarian National Television BNT.
