The American technology website CNET has chosen the Finnish Angry Birds -game as the Best iPhone Application. The editorial office and readers of CNET singled Angry Birds out from a hundred of iPhone applications. The game, which has been developed by Rovaniemi-based Rovio Mobile, was chosen as the best iPhone application also in the June issue of MacWorld Magazine.
The game features angry birds chasing green pigs that have stolen the birds’ eggs. Especially the game’s touch-screen functionality was praised by CNET.
Angry Birds has succeeded excellently on international markets. CEO of Rovio, Mikael Hed reports to Digitoday that Angry Birds became profitable only two month’s from its release. The game costs mere 0.99 dollars on the Apple App Store. Rovio has launched a version of the game also for Nokia N900.
The first Finnish media to report on Angry Birds’ success was the online publication Digitoday.
