China-Finland ‘Golden Bridge’ Innovation Center to be established in Finland

Tekes / Jolene Hu Finnish-Chinese innovation centre FinChi was established in Shanghai in 2005.
Chinese Vice Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng, who visited Finland recently, has signed two cooperation agreements with the Finnish Minister of Economic Affairs, Mauri Pekkarinen. These agreements will reinforce business and economic relations between the two countries, as well as cooperation in the fields of science, technology and innovation. The first cooperation agreement advances the establishment of China-Finland ‘Golden Bridge’ Innovation Center in Finland.

The aim of the innovation centre is to support the innovativeness and cooperation of Finnish and Chinese companies in the high-tech field, as well as enhancing their competitiveness.

- Finland is still appreciated as one of the world’s most innovative countries. I hope that this innovation centre will for its part increase and enhance cooperation between companies and research centres in both countries, says Minister Pekkarinen.

The practical implementation of the project is carried out by Greater Helsinki Promotion in Finland and the City of Shenzhen in China. More partners will join the project in future.

The other cooperation agreement entails the establishment of a joint operated environmental taskforce.  The taskforce is brought together to promote cooperation between Finland and China for instance in issues relating to sustainable development, energy-efficiency, renewable energies and environmental technology.
