Cargotec strengthens its position in North Africa

Cargotec strengthens its sales and service activities in Morocco by acquiring a share of Maghrepic S.A. business operations. The share includes the port service and equipment related part of the Moroccan company's business operations. Maghrepic has been Cargotec's equipment merchandiser in Morocco, and the company has extensive experience in offering maintenance services and spare parts.

The annual turnover of the acquired business share is estimated to be approximately 6 million Euros in 2010.

- Global port operators and shipping companies have started to invest in Moroccan ports and terminals, because the country is located at the crossroads of important sea routes and is a gateway between Africa and Europe, says Mark Williamson, Senior Vice President at Cargotec Services in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Cargotec has delivered automatic Kalmar stacking cranes to Morocco, as well as signing maintenance contracts for container handling equipment.
