Bayer expands its production in Turku

The German pharmaceutical company Bayer Schering Pharma will invest over 40 million Euros in its Turku production by the end of 2011. The expansion is expected to generate up to twenty new jobs. Currently the company employs 750 people in Finland.

The most successful pharmaceutical product of Bayer is the Finnish invention Mirena. This hormonal contraceptive is the seventh most popular prescription medicine by the company.
 
Last year Mirena’s sales rose over a third to 462 million Euros. The product is exported to over 120 countries and is used already by up to 15 million women.
