Andritz signs a 160 million Euro contract on technology delivery to China
Andritz Botnia pulp mill in Uruguay is an example of the technology expertise of Andritz.Andritz, and international technology group, has signed a 160 million Euro contract of process technology delivery to the Chinese Shandong Chenming Paper Holdings, one of the largest pulp and paper producers in China. The company is building a brand new pulp and tissue paper producing factory in the Guangdong Province in southern China.
The contract includes the delivery of complete process technology equipment for paper and pulp processing. Most of the equipment will be manufactured in Finland. The annual production of Guangdong pulp mill will be 700 000 tons. The Executive Director of Andritz Oy, Harry Rickman, does not dare to presume that the major contract indicates mitigation of the investment recession within the paper and pulp industry.
- China is living a life of its own. In other parts of the world the views are still foggy. The finance crisis continues holding up the implementation of major forest industry projects, says Rickman.
Thanks to the China-project Andritz can again offer full-time employment to some of its employees, whose work has been cut due to the recession, Rickman notes. Since the spring, employees of Andritz have been laid off from work for a week or two every month.
Andritz Oy is one of the world's leading suppliers of customized plants, process technologies, and services for the hydropower, pulp and paper, metals, and other industries. The company employs approximately 1000 employees and has an annual turnover of about 500 million Euros. It belongs to the Andritz Group, which is headquartered in Graz, Austria and is specialized in delivering technology processes for industries.
