Ahlström aiming for the Chinese wind power markets

Ahlström is to begin production of glass fibre reinforcements for the wind mill industry in China.  The reinforcements are used, for example, to reinforce wind mill blades.

Production will commence during this year at Ahlstrom's Binzhou plant in the Shandong province on China's eastern coast. Ahlstrom will install multi-axial machines to the Binzhou site, which currently manufactures transportation filtration materials.

— China has become a global power house in wind energy and through this investment we can better serve our global and local customers, explains Laura Raitio, Ahlström’s Executive Vice President for Building and Energy.

Ahlström’s Building and Energy business area currently serves the European, North American and Asian wind energy markets from its plants in Mikkeli, Finland and Bishopville in the United States.
