S Group and Foodie.fm take gold in the US

S Group and Foodie.fm’s e-commerce service won the gold medal in the US-based Retail TouchPoints’ Channel Innovation Awards. The annual award was granted in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, for the second time. The Platinum award was given to the UK retailer Republic.

The shopping and food recommendation service created by the S Group and Digital Foodie Oy beat out, among others, Marks & Spencer and the Target retail chain. The Channel Innovation Awards highlight cross-channel retail success stories that help fulfil customer needs in an innovative way.

— Retail e-commerce is advancing in leaps and bounds and all of the entries were of a really high standard. We are confident, however, that we’ve got something here that no one else in the world has accomplished on this scale, says Digital Foodie’s CEO, Kalle Koutajoki.

The S Group’s Foodie.fm retail service currently has more than 220 000 users in Finland. As of March, Foodie.fm also started operating as an online grocery shopping channel in Oulu, Kuopio and Helsinki. The service enables customers to order their groceries for home delivery either online, via their iPad or by smart phone.

S Group and Digital Foodie launched Foodie.fm in spring 2010.
