Modulight - laser expertise from Tampere

ModulightModulight solutions are used, for example, in medicine industry.The Tampere company Modulight Oy is punching above its weight in a field with some tough competition. Manufacturing laser-based solutions, the company competes internationally with the like of large corporations such as Mitsubishi. Modulight has nevertheless succeeded in exporting its expertise out into the world for a good ten years. One of the company’s strengths remains the fact that it still displays the flexibility that comes from being a smaller player.
- Our strength lies in the broad range of laser products we offer which can be utilized very many different applications. As a relatively small player in this market, we can also give our customers flexible, complete solutions, notes Modulight Oy’s Managing Director Petteri Uusimaa.
Modulight solutions are used, for example, in medicine, the defence industries and in IT. The company’s products have also been launched into space on the European Space Agency’s satellites. They are exported worldwide with the main markets being Europe, North America and Asia.
Mr Petteri Uusimaa says that demand for laser solutions from various industries has continued to be strong after the recession.
Modulight’s growth targets are high. In recent years our turnover has grown 50 – 100% per year. And although the recession has temporarily weakened the demand for laser solutions, the prospects for our industry at the moment are good. Global laser markets will grow this year to 6 thousand million euros, so there should be enough cake for us to take our share,’ affirms Mr Uusimaa.
