Thursday, 06 May, 2010

Risa RockTunnel excavation company Risa Rock is Lemminkäinen’s second Norwegian company acquisition this spring.

Finnish specialist in construction, Lemminkäinen has acquired over 90 percent majority interest of Norwegian tunnel excavation company Risa Rock AS, a subsidiary of Risa Group. The acquisition consolidates Lemminkäinen's position in Norway. The company's latest acquisition in Norway took place in April, when it bought majority interest of Asfalt Remix.

The acquisition of Risa Rock supports Lemminkäinen's strategy, which aims at establishing itself also on the Norwegian rock excavation market, says Henrik Eklund, Managing Director of Lemminkäinen Infra.

Infrastructure construction in Nordic countries is one of Lemminkäinen's strategic growth areas. Lemminkäinen has been involved in the rock excavation business in Sweden since 1994.

Risa Rock AS's net sales in 2009 totalled 16 million euros and the company employs about 20 professionals. The company will continue its operations as Lemminkäinen Norge AS's subsidiary. A minority stake in Risa Rock AS will be held by the executive management and Hans Olav Storkås will continue to serve as the company's Managing Director.

Lemminkäinen has been involved in infrastructure construction in Norway since

2001. Lemminkäinen Norge AS's net sales in 2009 reached about 120 million euros.
