Lehtikuva / Timo JaakonahoThe operations of Hitura nickel mine have been restarted, reports the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE. During the summer test mining and equipment testing have been carried out at the mine, which was closed in 2008. Vesa-Jussi Penttilä, the CEO of the mine’s owner, Belvedere Mining Oy, reported that Hitura’s nickel production can now be officially announced restarted.
According to Penttilä the company attempts to maintain continuous production after the mine’s restart. However, at first the mine will be closed in the weekends due to shortage of staff.
