Andritz supplies a new biomass boiler island to Swedish E.ON

wikimedia/sebastian fAndritz’s new biomass boiler will reduce Åbyverket power plant’s carbon emissions by 84 000 tons per annum.International technology Group Andritz will supply a 70 megawatt biomass boiler island for E.ON's Åbyverket power plant in Örebro, Sweden. The Åbyverket power plant is one of Sweden's largest biofuel-fired cogeneration plants.
The value of the order is approximately 30 million euro and the start-up of the boiler is scheduled for the end of 2012. The scope of supply comprises a steam boiler based on bubbling fluidized bed combustion technology (BFB), external fuel handling, flue-gas cleaning and flue-gas condensing. Andritz will also deliver process and building electrification, instrumentation, boiler safety system, and control system application programming for the entire power plant.
Andritz's BFB technology combines high fuel efficiency with excellent environmental performance. According to estimations the new biomass boiler for Örebro will reduce carbon emission by 84,000 tons per annum.
E.ON's order is part of energy efficiency program, which aims at enhancing the company's power plants' reliability of power supply, increasing energy efficiency and reducing climate impact.
