Amroy receives European Technology Innovation Award for advanced nanotechnology

The European Technology Innovation Award was presented to Amroy for its innovative work on material called hyptonite. The award was presented by the prestigious research and consulting firm Frost & Sullivan at their Best Practices gala in December 2009.
Hyptonite has been developed at the Nanoscience Centre of the University of Jyväskylä since 2002 under the leadership of Professor Jorma Virtanen. The material is epox, which has been fortified with carbon nanotubes and is 20-30 per cent more durable than previous reinforcement plastics. Amroy has continued developing the material. The company’s first client was the ice hockey product manufacturer Montreal Sports. Hyptonite has been also used for baseball bats, skis and wind turbine structures.
Amroy Europe Oy was established in 2002. In 2008 the company’s turnover was over 2 million Euros.
