Amazon Publishing buys rights to Finnish fiction
Amazon Publishing has acquired the world English rights to Burnt Land (Oranssi maa in Finnish), a novel by Finnish author Tua Harno.
The US-based publishing house is planning on publishing under the Amazon Crossing imprint in 2017.
Harno’s novel Burnt Land tells a harsh love story against the backdrop of merciless wilderness and the Australian mining industry.
“Thank you for this journey, my goodness what a treat,” comments Gabriella Page-Fort, senior acquisitions editor of Amazon Crossing. “I can feel the rains washing the dyes from my skin, and the crust of the earth breaking violently by our hand. What a novel.”
Harno, a writer and screenwriter living in the Finnish capital Helsinki, published her debut novel Those Who Stay in 2013.
