The Finnish specialist in packaging for food and drink created a paper cup that is made entirely from plant-based materials from sustainably managed forests.

The paper cup, known as Future SmartTM, has a newly developed plant-based polyethylene as a moisture barrier coating. The paperboard comes from PEFC certified forests.

The cup suits both hot and cold beverages, ice cream and takeout food.

According to Huhtamäki, new materials and technologies lead to new solutions that can remarkably reduce our dependence on fossil oil-based materials, at the same time and offer more consumer choice and chance to enhance the brand experience.

Huhtamäki has a network of 73 manufacturing units and 23 sales offices in 34 countries.
